Invites to Nordic Foreign Ministers Meeting
Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende invites his Nordic colleagues to Oslo on 23 and 24 May
The discussions will focus on a.o. the political developments in Europe and Brexit, the relationship with Russia and security in our neighborhood, as well as on the Nordics’ relationship to other regions and international organisations.
- In a demanding and unpredictable world, the close Nordic dialogue and the strategic foreign policy cooperation contribute to a stronger Europe. The Nordic countries share core values and interests, and they have both the ability, will and opportunity to make a difference, says Norwegian Foreign Minister Børge Brende.
The meeting is one out of more than 20 ministerial meetings that Norway organizes in 2017 during the Norwegian chairmanship of the Nordic governmental cooperation; the Nordic Council of Ministers.
The Nordic cooperation is a high priority of the government, and earlier this year Brende gathered the Nordic foreign ministers in Oslo just a few days before Norway took over the chair of the Council of Ministers.
The members of the Nordic Council of Ministers are the five Nordic countries Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden. The Faroe Islands, Greenland and Åland are also represented.
