Russian ice breakers stuck in sea ice

The ships could be marooned for a week, according to Siberian Times.
The two ice breakers have escorted two bulk carriers the long way from Arkhangelsk to Pevek, which is Russia’s northernmost port. On the return journey they were surprised by sudden and thickening sea ice.
It is the first journey along this route since Soviet times.
According to Siberian Times, the plan now is for a helicopter to conduct aerial reconnaissance to find a way out for the two icebreakers.
