The Faroese government states in a press release that it is easing the measures and restrictions that were implemented after the Corona pandemic reached the country in March. Schools and day centers will partially reopen on April 20, and sporting events may resume on May 9 under controlled conditions.

In the weeks that followed, the number of infected people increased rapidly, with the most sick in Tórshavn and Klaksvík. The infection reached a peak on April 6, with 184 cases of the disease.
It is now 10 days since a new case of Covid-19 was discovered in the islands and now the authorities have decided to gradually reopen the country.
Schools and day centers will partially reopen on April 20. Sports events can be resumed from Saturday 9 May under controlled conditions. Bars, restaurants and arenas are recommended to close at 22.00. This is stated by the Faroese government in a press release.
With a population of 51,783, the frequency of infection is 1 case per 281 inhabitants.
The country has tested eleven percent of the population for the disease, making the Faroe Islands one of the countries in the world that has tested the most for the virus.
Of the 184 infected, 92 per cent have now been reported healthy again.
All travel to and from the Faroe Islands is still strictly regulated.
